“What Do You Do?”

Does the Thought of Answering That Question Make You Sick?

Well, that’s what I do. We talk about why that question makes you feel physically ill. Then what work will make you feel proud. What’s the type of work you are excited to tell people about? You’ll move from absolutely dreading that question to anticipating it. When you asked “what do you do?” You’ll feel the excitement bubbling up inside of you.

Does that sound ridiculous?

That’s because you aren’t and haven’t been doing work that is fulfilling to YOU. Each of us is exceptionally unique and talented. We just need to find what gives us these feelings.

And guess what?

Career Coaching makes ME feel like this! And I want YOU to find work where you experience the same feelings.

I’ve Been Where You Are

This is why I choose to be a Career Coach:

He spent half an hour just repeating “the answer is within you” and “do you want me to just google it for you?” I left the meeting completely dejected.

I got a job working at a therapy practice and worked my way up within the company. I followed my skills working within different companies and industries. While reading any book I could get my hands on to help me figure out what I found fulfilling.

I noticed a lot of people around me had similar struggles.

We would sit down together and I would help them edit their cover letters, resumes, and job applications. Then someone who watched me do this asked why not pursue it professionally.

This led me to the Career Development Practitioner Program. This is where I learned more about specific job search skills, career coaching, and the job market. It built upon the work I was already doing. I love working with clients to help them find work that they truly enjoy and find fulfilling.

Reflecting on my career journey made me realize how many times I was brought back to career coaching.

In high school I had no clue what I wanted to do and the only advice I got from my guidance counsellor was “You can do anything you want!” While that seemed supportive it left me with no direction or tools to help me narrow down my options.

So, I chose to study psychology solely because I found it interesting. I made an appointment with the career counsellor hoping they would be more helpful than my high school guidance counsellor.

It was worse.

While My Experience with Guidance and Career Counsellors was Horrible, I Work to Make Sure That Yours Won’t Be

✨I want to ensure you get the support to figure out what it is you want to be and do. It CAN be anything you want, but it is hard to figure out what you want when you don’t know where to start.✨

If you are struggling to take that first step or are completely overwhelmed with the idea – contact me so we can do it together.
